BRIDGING NEUROSCIENCE FROM LAB TO CLASSROOM
BrainFit Indonesia dan BCTN (the Brain Connection Teachers Network) present
a Professional Development Seminar 2016 For Educators and Professionals, with the title:
BRIDGING NEUROSCIENCE FROM LAB TO CLASSROOM.
This workshop will be held for two days.
Day one – 30 August 2016
Themes: Building Critical Brain Foundation From Zero to Six.
This is a professional development seminar for early childhood development.
- Nurturing an attentive brain
Understand how the brain develops attention
and executive control in the early years. Be
equipped with practical strategies at home and
in the classroom on how to nurture
development of attention. There will also be
demonstration of neurofeedback and cognitive
training suitable for young children.
- Build the body, build the brain.
Understand the body-brain connection and its
implications on attention and learning. Discover
how body senses can affect behaviour and
learning, as well as appropriate physical
exercises that can strengthen body senses and
learning. Showcase of a whole-brain training
approach to accelerate cognitive skills and
achievement.
- Gear up a strong language brain.
Understand how the brain develops language
in the early years. Learn about the impact of
rapid auditory processin and bilingualism on
the language and learning brain. Receive
practical strategies on how to enhance
language development in young children.
- Shaping up the math brain.
Understand how the Math brain develops and
what can be done during the early years to
build a solid foundation to Math learning.
A discussion of some recent scientific findings
on Math learning and their implications on
choice of strategies during teaching of Math.
Day two – 31 August 2016
Themes: Bridging Neuroscience, from Lab to Classroom.
This is a professional development seminar for Educators and Counselors.
- “Executive Control” – What the brain needs to build motivated and independent learners.
Understand how “Executive Control”, the part of
the brain responsible for paying attention,
planning, prioritising and staying focused to
complete goals, affects motivation and
independence in learning. Get practical
strategies and view a demonstration of
technology that can help students strengthen
their executive control, motivation and
independence in learning.
- Nurturing creative and critical thinkers.
Creative and critical thinking are both listed as
21st century skills, with some believing that
these are THE most critical skills for the future.
Understand the brain science behind these
important skills and their implications on
raising our students and children to be both
creative and critical thinkers.
- Impacting literacy through neuroscience.
Understand how the brain masters literacy and
why some students struggle in reading and
comprehension. Receive practical strategies on
building the brain foundations critical for
reading and comprehension. Showcase of
some neuroscientific tools currently
implemented by schools in the US.
- Teaching with your strengths – How great teachers inspire their students.
Understand different strengths as discovered
by Gallup® from 40 years of human
development experience, how it affects your
teaching style, productivities and engagement
with students and parents. Apply your greatest
talents in your role as a professional and
integrate your strengths to be more effective
for your team and your organization.
